Jorden Boulet at The Steigenberger Wiltcher’s Hotel
AT The Steigenberger Wiltcher’s Hotel
Jorden Boulet is a painter who works project-oriented. Although his work and working method can differ visually depending on time, space and context, there is a coherence through the constant reference to the idea of paradise. White beaches, palm trees, a beautiful setting sun: these are (clich ) images that evoke an atmosphere of happiness and joy, idyll and perfection. Boulet is fascinated by this visual culture and its use in our society. Kitsch, decadence or deceit are never far away. His work is therefore full of contradictions: beautiful dream images with a more negative or melancholic connotation. They stimulate an intangible longing or refer to dramatic events. The contradiction is also literal in his extreme use of colour, a consequence of his own colour blindness.
